I am a 27 year old Guatemalan environmental engineer, photographer, and videographer.
My career in academia within the environmental sciences, my urgent attachment to sustainable development, and the idea of humanity developing in a more intelligent and respectful way towards the environment influence my efforts and work in documentary filmmaking. My discipline is strongly influenced and inspired by my admiration for cinema and science fiction.
I acquired my first camera while I was a teenager, in love with the fascinating birds of Guatemala. From there, I have been on the quest to communicate with light the fascinating world of the natural environment, with great regard for the damages we impact as human beings on earth.
I am now an environmental engineer graduate from Universidad Rafael landivar of Guatemala on 2023, with experience in ecological and social environmental analysis, soil conservation, local sustainable agriculture systems, and wastewater treatments. I have a special affinity for anthropology and human development.
As a documentarian of the medium (photography and videography), my video and photo style primarily aim to capture attention. In order to communicate assertively in an artistic and scientific manner in the shortest possible time, I aim to turn the often ordinary moments into what would seem to be science fiction.
I have had the privilege of working as the main photographer and videographer for FLAAR Mesoamerica expeditions, researching ecosystems and the native flora and fauna of Guatemala. For scientific and cinematographic documentation. My style seeks to capture attention with fantastic realism and fleeting movements, assertively communicating the scientific information expressed in the art of cinema.
I have produced short documentaries and micro documentaries for FLAAR Mesoamerica including videos for fund-raising campaigns for the non-profit organization.
My goals as a wild life photographer and film maker dwell in the decaying environment people often do not know about and disregard by a non-guilty ordinary routine. My main goal is to pop up in their daily scrolling in a sudden contemplation of what lies out there, to catch their eye and heart to create a lastint constant reminder of the natural world, in a matter of seconds to be over, save the video, and continue with the social media. And so on impact with my documentary story-telling.
